Bootie, Bootie, Bootie, Rockin’ Everywhere

These booties had us at hello!

Santa must have shopped at Old Navy this year, because my sister and I woke up Christmas morning with matching booties under the tree, her’s tan, mine red. Here are two totally different ways to rock your booties everywhere! My sister, whom is younger, but taller styled her look around her Nordic sweater. I started my look with my favorite: red shoes! These looks are so easy to replicate, I hope they bring you some inspiration.

Christmas Dance Outfit

My senior Christmas Dance was held last Saturday, and I wanted to share some glam pictures from the event.  Not trying to brag or anything, but I DIY’ed my dress! I was inspired by a ballet tutu/costume.  I selected my fabrics with a modern but classic approach (how I would describe my style).  I picked a classic color pallet, but I chose a really hot pattern: chevron.  I love how my dress turned out.  Sorry I can’t tell you where to buy one, you will have to dust your sewing machine and hit up a fabric store!

I chose to do pink nails because I wanted a pop of color against the grays and silver.

I ordered these shoes on Cyber Monday, with 50% off and free shipping.  When they arrived at my house the right shoe was much tighter than the left.  I was so disappointed, because I would have to repurchase them at full price. But leave it to my dad to recommend I take the too small shoe to a cobbler to get it stretched.  I want to tell every girl out there who has ever worn brand new pair of tight shoes, Google cobblers in your area.  You might be surprised, there are still many around.  Take your shoes in and get them stretched before you squeeze your toes in for a long night of dancing.  Believe me, your feet will thank you!

The Night Before Christmas

My outfit of the night on Christmas Eve.

The stockings were hung on the mantle  with care,

We scurried to church, smiling at the giddy little ones awaiting SC’s arrival.

Back in the kitchen helping  mum and dad prepare dinner for the family,

As I was rinsing spinach, when I halted in a frantic state,

I rushed over and grabbed the camera,

Only to discover capturing beautiful pictures in low lighting beside a glowing tree is easier said than done.

So that is my apology in poem form for what is probably the worst quality blog photos you will ever see on the internet.  I hope I was able to manipulate these pictures enough so you can feel some Christmas Eve magic.  My tip for taking your everyday clothes to holiday is, pairing rich textures.  My top from Arie is velvet and my A&F skirt is wool.  When worn together you get a festive look without trying too hard.

These stunning stilettos are from Aldo.  I feel like their metallic texture plays up the holiday vibe.  My tights are slightly chevron printed, but it is hard to tell here.

Not so Ugly Christmas Sweaters

It is the time of the year when you start to see Christmas Sweaters. Many will wear them but only some will rock them!

For this post I recruited my good friend Carley and she can rock Christmas sweaters! She is known amongst our circle of friends for getting everyone in the Christmas Spirit with her Sweaters. Carley sports festive clothes the whole month of December! She pulled together these outfits quite simply. You will be surprised how easy a holiday top can be worked into your everyday wardrobe! All of her looks are based around leggings, and combat boots!

If you want to know the secret where to get the best sweaters, try Goodwill. You might have to hunt, but the finds can pay off.

Special thanks to Carley! Sorry you had to freeze while we got the perfect shot.

OOTD: In the Snow

This is real, 100% how I dress when my region accumulates snow. Today just so happened to be a two-hour delay at my school. A.K.A. an extra two hours of sleep! I will be the first to admit, when there is snow on the ground, it is harder to dress “fancy.” So when the snow starts to fly, I find myself wearing something that consists of one or more of the following: UGG’s, sweaters, hats, leggings, and many scarves!

Hey There, Bright Blue

It’s amazing to me how wearing certain colors can make you feel so happy. When you wear a skirt like this, you can catch only a flash of it and get excited. Like Taylor Swift once said, “Color can express every emotion you can’t put into words.” Hence her song “Red.” This is the mentality I have everyday when I am pairing colors and it really is true. Wear a bold color with pride and stand out!

Another tip: Keep a color wheel close to your closet, so you can get inspiration for new color combinations!

Thankful for this Shirt

I basically lived in this shirt my whole Thanksgiving break. It is just one of those pieces that are so versatile. Here are a few ways you can work this shirt into your wardrobe.

Look 1: A Dressed Up Flannel

I paired a velvet skirt with my flannel shirt, added gray accessories, and a puppy with a pink Santa hat! (I’m a little excited for the Holidays)
